Ok this is completely random and a little bit into the personal life. A couple years ago my wife's mom took a huge step in life and got tested for a terrible hereditary disease that has been passed down in her mom's family for generations. This disease is called huntingtons disease. Huntingtons disease is a repeat gene in your DNA that creates a protein that attacks and kills brain cells. The easiest way to explain what this disease does to you is to take alzheimers disease, Parkinson disease and ALS and combine them. The protein is not particular to any area of the brain meaning it can effect anything from memory, personality, or muscle control. Unfortunatly there is currently no cure for this horrible disease. On top of that every time you have a child there is a 50 percent chance of passing the gene on to the baby. Luck was not on her families side with this because her and her brother both tested positive for the gene. Without going to much deeper into explaining the disease they both tested with a repeat amount of 47 and 49. Their mother tested with a 47 repeat also which is same as her brother. This disease only affects an estimated 200 thousand people world wild. Unfortunatly not enough people who are positive with the disease will stand out to raise awareness to help bring attention to finding a cure. There is currently a trail medicine being tested for the first time since the discovery of the disease. My wife's brother is doing his part and is a part of this trail. While my wife did not choose to do the trail medicine she has done her part over the past few years by running the Team Hope Walk event to help raise money for Huntingtons Disease Society of America (HDSA). This year will be the the 3rd annual Team Hope Walk. We managed to raise roughly 4350 dollars last year and had 90 people attend. This year we are trying to get 150 people and raise over 5500 dollars. We had tons of raffles from donations last year and this year is gonna be out of control how many donations we received. From dinner gift certificates to tickets for Rock and Roll all of fame to one night stay at Maumee Bay State park lodge. The walk this year is on September 17th at Walbridge park in Toledo Ohio. I would really enjoy seeing some of you out there. Even if your are unable to attend any donations will help with finding a cure and helping families affected by this disease. I will have a link posted below to the walk page where people can register to attend the event or to donate. The event is 15 dollars a person and comes with a team hope walk t-shirt and lunch.
