Happy Sunday all. Looking at one of my tanks today, I noticed a beautiful bloom of diatoms festering in addition to some hair and red slime. Topped off a few days ago without doing readings. I seem to be blowing through my Rodi membranes faster than I expected. Tap water today came in at 230! Filtered is coming in...err...out at 68. I am letting it sit and am adding Aquavitro's Alpha, which usually helps. I'm out of Prime. Parameters were pretty much in check prior to the top-off and lighting has been minimal and I raised the pH a tad. Normally, the tap water is around 185-195. Membranes are only about 3- 4 months old. Shame on me for being lazier than usual and bragging on how effortless my tanks are. Ugh! Guess I'm back to delivery, after I dump in some Chemiclean. Anyone else noticed recent spikes in our crappy (Toledo) uber-chlorinated water? If so, any ideas on how to combat this? How often do LFS's change their membranes? Just curious.
