Moody66
I have not out anything new in my tank since last year. I saw something I had not seen before a week or two ago. Now it has grown. Can anyone tell me what this is?? It started growing out from my yellow star polyps.
Muttley000
The first pic looks caleurpa racemosa. It can be a very aggressive spreader. I would remove it. I didn't heed that warning early on, and have to pluck it and several other strains of caulerpa weekly in some of my tanks. Some people use it in a fuge instead of cheato as it also grows quickly and takes up excess nutrients. It is very pretty in my opinion, but just grows and spreads too quickly. Moody66
Thanks Muttley. It had me baffled. Literally 11 months since I added anything to the tank. Then bam. It got that big in a few days. Freaky how long things can live before we see them.
Moody66
You are correct. Looked at MANY images of it. I agree with you. Its very cool looking. But I cant afford to let it take over. It went from not even visible to being that clump with the runner literally in a week. AMAZINGLY fast. Dunno why it laid dormant for so long. 11 months. Then BAM. Nothing has changed. Mother Nature is always full of surprises. LOL
