Jesse
Who uses GFO to help control phosphate? How do you apply it to your water?
Muttley000
I have a reactor but haven’t used it for years.

Flounder
I have a reactor with GFO going that has been a life saver. I wasn't testing for Phosphate when first getting the tank set up. Once I did it was a problem. I have cut my PO4 in half, using GFO over the past couple months.
Jesse
I've always used GFO, and Carbon. Debating on setting up reactors again.
mchute85
I just started add it last night so we will see how it goes. My phosphates have been running around .25, but that is according to an API test kit which is tough to read. Any recommendations on a new test kit? Muttley000
Hanna checker is the best IMO. If I didn't have it I think I would use Red Sea pro KMHREEFER

Jesse
I always preferred the Salifert test kits.
zachegg
I have started running an algae scrubber to help with phosphate. I haven't tested recently but I know I'm growing algae rather quickly so it must be working .

I like the Hanna Checkers. I've found them to be accurate and repeatable.

erky
love the hanna phosphorus ULR checker but i need another culvet to make it work the best, only have one so who knows if the powder dissolves all the way. I have used GFO and need to again as my po4 is .25 currently it was .06 for the longest time and i was happy with that.

rjchiles
Right now I set my interval at 4 weeks. I just try to keep it on a set cadence.
Jesse
I still haven’t decided what reactors to go with this time around.
rjchiles
Once I switch over to an algae scrubber, the GFO will be redundant .
Muttley000
My cheato is growing so good my ATS isn’t producing at all. I’m thinking about taking it offline as it has more coralline than green algae on it now! I’ve never been much of a GFO user, now the system is so big that I would just use lanthanum if I ever ran into an issue again.
