trickedout900
Well summer is upon and as the temps start to rise I am curious to see what some of you are doing to keep your temps in check. Last week my Apex was emailing every hour because my temp had crept up over 80°. I open the sump and placed a fan on it and turned the AC in the garage on and all is back to normal. Also what temp do you try to target with your tank? I generally try to keep mine around 78° Thanks
Lazylivin
I shoot for 78 here as well. Run a large fan when temp hits 79 and heater kicks on at 78.3.
Jesse
I shoot for 78 and turn the central air on when the temp starts to rise.
Dr.Fraggenstien
I run my systems at 80 and keep the house no warmer than 72 or so all year round. Heaters and metal halides take care of the rest. Edited May 19, 2015 by Dr.Fraggenstien
ben
My tanks run 80 the 83 all year

Joe
My fish only is @ 78* and when it gets hot out my AC is set to 68*. So the temp stays the same. The pony tank is set @ 72* and has a chiller/ heater that keeps it @ 72*.
Muttley000
78 to 79, mine are in the basement so I heat year around.
trickedout900
I wish I had a basement, the temps would be much easier to manage
Dmartinsnyder83
I keep mine at 78 I have a aqueon pro series heater and they are pretty expensive so far no issues with winter or summer
jessica
Mine runs at 80. I have mh lighting with no chiller so i keep the ac on all summer
REEFER~MADNESS
Run mine @ 79 and sits in front of ac vent every now and then I have to turn a 4" cooling fan on but that's mostly b/c of my MH
trickedout900
Great info, thanks for all of the replies.
dingoinde
Targeting 78 degrees right now. My problem is the basement where the sump is freezing. I am pondering how to pull some air from the third floor to the basement to equalize the temperature.
REEFER~MADNESS
Dingoinde Can you use a small water heater with the foil faced foam insulation to wrap sump in?
Caribbean Chris
Just posted about this in another thread, but I'm lucky to have my system in the basement. Temp stability isn't a problem at all. ~77 year round (max range 76-78 in a 12 month period).
