KeithMiller
Can anyone help ID this?? It's got what appears to be a calcified outside on the lower part. Softish green top. Appears to be a soft body inside when I break one open. They are multiplying quickly out of control! If you know what it is- does anything eat it? Thank you!! KeithMiller
Never mind. It is apparently Neomeris annulata algae. Anyone know how to get rid of that???

Welcome to the forum! I agree wi your ID. I would try manual removal first. It will be a pain but that is the safest. If it is contained to a rock or two peroxide or acid bath may do it, but it looks widespread. I believe vibrant would knock it out, but it will take all green algae in the system with it. How old is the set up and when did this stuff show up? Could we know more about your system?
KeithMiller
Thanks for the help! Moved to Cleveland not too long ago. Tank went through a lot in the move. Unfortunately my wife is quite ill and the tank got neglected. So this has gone on for a few months of growth. It's spread quite a lot. NBurg
From my experience that type of algae doesn't grow that quickly and rarely causes issues, so I agree that manual removal should be good.
