castlet67
Ok, bad news for me today, but maybe not too late. I have several Acans, and noticed one in particular just wasn't happy no matter what I did. At first, I had moved it to a new location and immediately it receded back into it's skeleton. All color remained, but i needed to look deeper. I decided to treat for possible bacterial infection. Once I dipped the Acan, I noticed very small white spots in the mouth of the coral.i applied a light suction to the mouth and looked into the pipet against a strong light. The pipet was full of very tiny white worms. I could not take any pictures due to the size of the worms. Maybe I can get a microscope the next time if it happens again. Bottom line is, now I'm treating everything . I could not locate any ID online. Anyone have a similar experiance?
crimsonvice
I haven't heard of this before. I hope you can figure it out. Nothing like finding a mystery hitchhiker in your tank
Muttley000
News to me also, hope you get it sorted out. Any access to a microscope? That would be key to an ID, plus I would love to see the pics! Keep us posted please.
Joe
There are such things as acan worms. Coral RX should kill them off. But you would need to treat all scans in the tank multiple times.
castlet67
I can't find anything close to it. Almost like a pinworm, but smaller, inside the mouths of the Acans
castlet67
The coral rx wiped out about few dozen worms. I will treat once a week for a few weeks to make sure i wipe the worms out. This is the acan when it started looking stressed. It is much worse now. All skeleton with the flesh starting to re-inflate,,mouthsare now closed. The other acans are much better, full, and happy

Did you dip the acan before placing it in your system?
castlet67
Yes,all were dipped prior. I am guessing maybe eggs that were untreatable by the dip. Visually i didnt see anything.
Muttley000
Makes the case for qt of coral, although very few, including myself seem to do it on the invert side.

crimsonvice
Yeah I always dip and right into the display. I wish I had the space for a QT tank. We are looking at building/buying a house here soon, so maybe then! Hopefully, they bounce back for you.
