Jeremy Butwina
Setting up a new frag system its a 60 gallon deep blue rimless tank. Lookin to see what everyone would suggest for powerheads n size thinking gyre or like Mp40s
crimsonvice
I think both would work. Personally I have used Gyres and I love them. A Gyre xf130/230 would be perfect. I have not used Mp40s, so I cannot speak from personal experience, but I have heard great reviews on them as well. Each is priced very similar. Are you planning on buying new or used? Dr.Fraggenstien
I own both and like the vortechs much better than the gyres.
Muttley000
I have to say my vortech seems to make more flow. I understand the gyre may be actually moving more water but it doesn’t really seem to “shake” things around.

Mostly 2 things: No cords in the tank Better settings - specifically the gyre lacks in preprogrammed variable speed modes. They pretty much just have constant and pulse. This might be addressed though with the newer controllers. Mines the original
Nanoreef13
I have a mp40 and a gyre xf150 in my tank and my mp40 is much quicker and as stated before it has way more settings.
chiefs11
I have 2 of the 250 gyre and love them. It is just in 3" of water so u really don't see any of the cord. It moves tones of water and the new controller has tons of options. And is super quiet. Never had vortech so can't compare. Sure u can't go wrong with either. watdachuck
I have never used the Gyre's, I just prefer to avoid as many chords in the water as possible for the clean look. Vortech's have always worked well for me, and are very easy to clean.

I love my mp10 slowly replacing my jebaos with them.
