  1. Their main argument is algae growth. It’ll feed them instead of the bio. I was planning cuc before fish so algae was fine with me. But some are very strong in the opinion. Get levels. 90% water change. Add fish. Add cuc when needed. So confusing.
  2. Granted I’m roughly 3 weeks in already. Brown algae on rock some green brown on sand in areas, bottom of glass. Just waiting on levels then adding cuc. Keep the lights on schedule as they will be or shut them off for benefit of bacteria ? reading a lot of varied opinions and would like yours.
  3. How do you edit messages ? Noticed I put up same pic twice and not the intended one ?
  4. I was plannng zoa garden with anemones and Duncan ! I understand they aren’t necessarily the stars but at the same time before I got this far in my research and understanding I was hoping to be able to fit certain “larger/ needs more tank” fish. So likely larger tank by end of year. Just need to make sure I can keep up with this one first ^^
  5. What I’m currently at as I wait on last of ammonia and nitrite to dip
  6. Apex I think may be a tall order for this little tank. If there is a 50-75 rimless that would benefit us.. I’ll be doing that sooner rather than later... current swaying plan is to focus that , now that I’ve learned limitations on stocking. Granted my 28 will either become a frag tank or a dedicated “pretty” QT- pretty much set on a larger DT. Please do give your feedback on this. 4-6 fish just isn’t as appealing to me as a larger tank while maintaining a small profile now that I’ve done so much more research. My ammonia and nitrite is dropping fast so I’d assume doing a 50/50 would easily help jump start a 55-70?
  7. Side note. Lid off skimmer running = much more evaporation. Def need to get the ato setup. But now reading some really poor reviews on the model I picked up. RO/DI system on the way.
  8. Eye sore and mounting is an issue for that light right now, gonna get something to put in between so it stays flush, as is it’s got folded cardboard to raise it enough so the screw isn’t bending in the interior rim in the back. Hopefully not an issue when mounting auto feeder. Already eyeballing a rimless 55G , so we’ll see...
  9. Someone is selling a used one for 100-150$ in a Facebook group im a part of
  10. Amazing job. Looks great!
  11. Skimmer and light mounted. I reaaaallllllly need to get this rim off.
  12. Controlled via cell phone/ computer. Once I did some quick research I found a few schedules to try. Uploaded and done.
  13. Too soon to say. 1- first time owning one lol. 2- break in time. Hardware store in morning when off work to get a longer return tube so I don’t hear the water. Other than that after some adjusting it’s nearly silent.
  14. Skimmer and light installed. Need to remove the rim...
  15. I need a longer tube so the splash isn’t as loud and a proper overflow setup. Love the AI prime so far. Any suggestions on aquamaxx HOB r welcome. Also curious on JBJ skimmer that fits chamber.
  16. Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB arrived today. We’ll see if it lives up to the reviews. Install in a few days. Need to get the rto and auto feeders up also
  17. Didn’t have to cycle? Because used established water ? I’m already eyeballing a 45-70
  18. Should rename site to muttleyreef.
  19. Don’t use during cycle correct ?
  20. Gonna try it. If it blows the next most recommended seems to be Arctic somethinf
  21. Current plan is aquamaxx HOB 1.5 - skimmer. Tunze 3152 auto too off. AI prime HD light. Eheim auto feeder(work swing shift). EFlux wave pump kit w/remote. Hopefully I can find a mesh lid to assist in keeping dog hair out but haven’t seen any options. Any safe way to remove the rim plastic w/ tank already filled? Pic is pre ammonia spike. Mollies went back when ammonia hit .050. Supplementing with ammonia. Open to any and all suggestions/feedback.
  22. I was looking at aquamaxx hob for my 28. Opinions/experience with ?
