  1. Admins, please remove this post. I will be keeping the tank, at least for the time being. Sorry for any confusion. Sent from my SM-G981V using Tapatalk
  2. I've had him about a year - he eats pods and pods only, but is healthy and happy. I have tried everything under the sun, but he won't touch it. That being said, no chance on catching any fish until the coral and rock are gone, but I'll keep you in mind.
  3. Well, in a perfect world, sell as a whole. Parting it out piece by piece is more time and energy - and hence my reason for selling the tank in the first place. That being said, I realize very few people, if anyone, buys a complete system, so I am happy to part with the livestock only. Corals first, then fish. Also - I have numerous issues with this website - it won't load at all on tapatalk, so please excuse my delay in responding to PMs as I can't use my phone.
  4. Selling my 135g reef tank as I just don't have the time for it anymore. I have the following: ReefBreeders v1 32" x 2 Neptune Trident Vertex Omega 150 skimmer (I will probably keep the remaining equipment for another build) Livestock: 4-5" Hawaiian Yellow Tang x1 6" Two-Barred Rabbitfish x1 4" Yellow- Flanked Fairy Wrasse x1 3" Lubbock Fairy Wrasse x1 3" Copperband Butterflyfish x1 Camel Shrimp x1 Mated Pair Orange/ Black Ocellaris Clowns Green Hammer Coral (30+ heads) Green Frogspawn (30+ heads) Walt Disney Acro Blue Ricordea Mushrooms Green Slimer Acro Green Pocillopora Purple Stylophora Green Star Polyps Red Montipora Probably a few more, but that's the most of it. The tank does have a few aiptasia anemone but I believe the camel shrimp keeps most of them at bay. Tank is 135g, 72" all glass, drilled for a modular marine overflow that drains into a 100g Rubbermaid sump. Tank has been running for 4-5 years, controlled via Neptune Apex controller and automated dosing via DOS heads. Again, just going in a different direction as I don't have the time to care for it properly anymore. $1500 OBO
  5. Look at the Jebao DC pumps - low cost, quiet and reliable. I've been running them on my 200g system for over 5 years. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  6. I run an Apex 2016 with two EB832s, DOS x3, numerous breakout boxes, a PM1 module, and a Trident on my system. Ironically, this same system also controls my planted freshwater tank as well. I can't begin to tell you how much easier the automation makes my life. - I don't hand dose anything. It is all done automatically and precisely. - I don't 'forget' to turn the lights on/off or my feed pumps on. - I don't have to spend ten minutes juggling wires to find which one is the skimmer plug just so I can unplug it to clean it - instead I just flip a switch on the app. - I do have peace of mind. As others have stated, I know that all of my parameters are being monitored. If something is awry, I will get alerts (depending on how they are setup - SMS, email). As stated above, it can be a generous investment. It also doesn't have to be. Stick with the basic unit and see how you like it - if you determine it's not the right fit, the units have a pretty decent resale value. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  7. Currently using two 32G Brute cans, but looking to upgrade to the vertical plastic storage tanks. So far, I haven't been able to talk myself into spending the $100+ on shipping, and have been unable to source them locally. I did call Tractor Supply and they only have the one size for around $200 (I was told I cannot special order any other size). I also recently found out that there is a US Plastics plant in Lima that has a walk-up/retail area, so if I'm feeling froggy someday I may drive down there. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  8. I assume they do walk-in/local pickup? I've been looking for two of those forever but didn't want to pay the shipping. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  9. Get an inkbird controller for your temp, pH and salinity can be monitored with the Tunze, though I would personally look at the Apex EL. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  10. Guess that depends on what exactly you want the controller to do. I assume the two that you are referring to are GHL and Neptune Systems. Beyond that, there is EKoral, Reef Angel, Tunze 7000, and some dyi raspberry Pi- based systems. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  11. I'm wondering the same thing! Following along. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  12. Sorry for the bad angle, watching movies with the kids on the couch while I took it. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

  16. I agree. It's actually a fairly complex statement to get it to work correctly ex "Alexa tell Apex fusion to turn off skimmer" so general conversation probably would not have any ill effects, but, to me, it's adding another failure point. Technology is amazing for sure, but I can't quite get there with trusting it to control my tank yet either. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  17. Yes. I can do it with Alexa through Apex. I personally don't find it that rewarding, but it certainly is an option. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  18. I always get the ziplock type bag and never have an issue. Perhaps the packaging is flawed? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  19. LRS is very hard to find unfortunately. I believe the shop in Perrysburg may carry it, perhaps worth a call. As for me, I make my own. BRS has an awesome video on how to make your own, and while the initial expense can be a bit pricey, the overall value is far cheaper as you can make enough for several months depending on your feeding regimen. 20. I go with a 50/50 blend of PE Mysis and TDO Chromaboost and some spirulina flake mixed in to my Eheim autofeeder. Both of those foods are very well packed, have high protein content and are very clean. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  21. I don't think I've ever seen a single tank drain cut at a 45. I'm in agreement with you about the air lock, I'm just curious why one would cut it at a 45 instead of straight across? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  22. Why in the world would you do this? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  23. Cut the pipe close to the surface to give the air a chance to escape once it is pushed down the pipe. Given the length of the pipe currently, I imagine you have an air lock that is banging around inside the pipe. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  24. Ha! I could try that. If nothing else, just something else to further make my wife think I am nuts! Lol Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
  25. That's a great idea! What do you use as a trap? 2-litre bottle? Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
