  2. Someone else compiled this, but I thought I would post this here in case anyone else would like to use it. They claim to have uses a Spectrometer to match the Ecotech AB+ program on the Mitras. I saved my previous settings, and have uploaded these new ones. I will give it some time and see if I notice a difference. It appears to limit the energy to certain LED channels and redistribute to others to match the spectrum. I have included screen shots to show the percentages. Link to settings.

  4. With the recent launch of the new Mitras LX 7x04 LED, we felt it would be a good opportunity to give you a close-up look at how we build and prepare our products. In this video we show how the Mitras LX LED boards are manufactured in our production facility in Germany. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJg8lDC0zbU Did you know?GHL has been manufacturing and developing its products for 2 decades! From the beginning we've held true to our core values in believing that the aquarium industry deserves nothing less than the best. That's why to this day, we continue to oversee and control all major production processes to ensure your GHL product works safely and reliably for years to come. Our inspection processEach and every finished component undergoes rigorous testing and quality checks. We test our own boards and do our own QC checks. Even down to the inspection of each LED diode, we check it all. We do it because...We want to make sure that each and every product that leaves GHL HQ is tried and tested to perform reliably. While our competition may outsource these tasks, we do it all ourselves. That way, we can improve existing products and innovate new ideas and bring them to life without waiting on others to deliver.Want to learn more about GHL?Click here to learn more about our philosophy on quality assurance and the products we offer.
  5. FRESHWATER! Selling my nearly new Finnex Planted+ 24/7 SE 48" LED light. I purchased this light brand new 2-3 weeks ago, and since have decided to pursue a different route with lighting. Light works great, fully automated, still has original packaging. Paid $145 for the light, asking $125 OBO. Local pickup in Toledo.
  6. $350 in Dublin/Hilliard area (North West Columbus) MFG date is March 6 2017 Selling because I am going a different route with my future tank. Everything comes like new in box EDIT: Just FYI, this is basically a single puck of the XR30w PRO version.

Note** Some corals are attached to large rocks with other corals. Some are separate.
  8. I have 2 Radion pro g2s for sale that are in excellent condition. They have been cleaned and maintained consistently and run flawlessly. I switched my main tank to a t5/kessil hybrid because I got bored and was saving these for a future project that now I do not think is going to happen. So really just hate seeing them sitting in the boxes not being used. They have boxes and manuals and everything with them and they were recently cleaned and even the power supplies cleaned. There is only one flaw between both units and that is a small hairline crack on the faceplate from me tightening the screw too tight but that does not affect any performance or structure. Looking to get $650 for the pair. Any questions feel free to contact me.
  9. Here's a market trend analysis I have found. Power compact bulbs are going the way of the dodo bird. My 10k blew out because of a bad ballast on my 10 month old Coralife BC29. I called the manufacturer to help rectify this situation and verbatim I was told "pretty soon power compact equipment won't even be around to replace, at least from us." Which, Coralife (aka Central) is basically the last manufacturer with stock anymore. So eventually I will absolutely need to upgrade the lights on my tank. I am kicking around the idea of retrofitting my Coralife BC29 with LED lighting. I have it narrowed down to a few options (that I know of as being options). If I go the route of a plug and play kit from someone I am going Nanbox Reef (Dave Fason) for $325 (link here: http://nanoboxreef.com/shop.htm scroll down to retro fit, large). Compared to Rapid and Steve's retrofits, its definitely a best bang for the buck. Another option I am looking into is TrueLumen Pro LED strips (anyone done this?). Here's a few hang ups I keep coming up with: 1. I cannot go rimless, I have a 5 month old and likely more kids to come, and I need a hood, so I have to retrofit the canopy. 2. I don't know how to solder, not that I can't teach myself not am I scared to learn, I just don't have that skill set right now. So buying components and doing a full blown DIY LED retrofit from scratch seems like I would be better off (time-wise) going with a kit. 3. The biggest obstacle that keeps me from going ahead with the purchase is the price and what I could get for $325. As far as the market for Biocube lighting retrofit goes Dave's price is competitive, at least. But when I look at what else I can get for $325-360, I'm hesitant. A 29gallon tank is good, but I see 55 gallon tanks on Craigslist with LED fixtures for 350-500$, we all have seen these. So I begin to think, should I just upgrade to another (used) tank and take the risk of getting setback with extra purchases to repair or replace, or possibly, get a sweet deal for a bigger tank and a light upgrade at the same time. What would you do, what should I do? I would LOVE for someone to offer up solution to replacing the Power Compacts that are going obsolete. Redd

  18. I have been watching Bulk Reef Supplie's 52 weeks of reefing series (along with about any other reefing video that catches my attention much to the detriment of sleep.) This video covers many of the details of LEDs from brightness to spectrum and included a section on PAR that uses the same meter as the club. If you are new to lighting, I think it is a good place to start (especially if you are a member and can borrow the PAR meter) They do tend to focus on the lights they sell (the normal big ones, Ecotech, Kessil, and Maxspect). I would love to hear other peoples set ups and opinion on how valid the assumptions in the video are.
