  1. I wanted to start this thread a long time ago but have waited about as long as I can.About 10 weeks ago I placed an order with Acrylic Creations for a custom 66 Long X 24 X 24 Acrylic Aquarium (~166 Gallons). This will be a peninsula style, see through tank, that will separate two sides of my basement. I also have an order on with my favorite sump builder, LifeReef, for and CLF2 Compact Berlin Sump and LifeRefugium which will run along side my LifeReef Calcium Reactor.I will also be going all out with EcoTech Marine products as follows:Additional Items:- 3 X Ecotech Radion XR30 Pro Gen 4 (Custom Acrylic Mounts)- Ecotech Marine ReefLink Controller- 2 X Ecotech Vortech MP40w- Vectra M1 (Drive Skimmer)- Vectra L1 (Drive return, refugium, and reactors)Stocking plans for this tank will be very similar to my last SPS tank but on a larger scale. I also plan to push my luck with one or two larger angel species. The photo attached is just after I completed cutting out the carpet, and leveling the tank stand on composite shims. The tank now sits directly on the homes slab foundation, so no worries about falling through the floor!Updates to come frequently and soon!!

    SPS article

Interesting article on ReefBuilders.com You’ve Never Seen Acropora Like This Before JAKE ADAMS17 HOURS AGO21 21SHA We’ve collectively spent decades, centuries and millenia looking at our beloved SPS corals, but there’s only so much you can see in an aquarium setting with live corals. Sometimes you have to take a very specific approach to see what’s inside our corals, which is precisely what researchers in Australia have done to this Acropora branch. With synchronized spawning popping off in a big way in Oz right now, there’s a lot of busy bodies at the Australian SeaSIM, perhaps the biggest and most complex ‘coral aquarium’ in the world. One of the things that researchers want to see is how ready the corals are to spawn, and what indicators they can spot that spawning is imminent, as well as the fertility of various corals. By placing whole coral branches in a light acid, the skeleton can be dissolved – decalcified – leaving just the remaining tissue. At this point the soft coral tissue can be fixed in an epoxy so that it can be cut into cross sections revealing a whole network of connected polyps, and a level of organization, unlike anything we can see in a live coral. Perhaps the more you’ve looked at Acros from the outside, the more alien this view of the coral might be. Allw e can see of our precious corals in an aquarium environment is just the first few millimeters and the radial and axial polyps that extend into the water column. But this dissected, decalcified corals shows us just how deep the coral lives within its skeleton. We tend to think of corals as having an endoskeleton, inside their tissues, but this is overly simplistic. In truth the skeleton is perforated all throughout with various tissues, mesenterial filaments, and a gastrovascular cavity intertwined in every nook and cranny of the skeleton that the coral secretes. So the next time you look at your corals, particularly the SPS, try to imagine just how much is going on deep inside that colonial animal. Because you might only be able to see a thin coenosteum covering the skeleton and some polyps periodically extended, but there’s a whole world of biology and activity happening just out of sight. 3. Making room to rescape my 40g. Accidental Tank Cleaning SPS frags: $15 a piece I have: x3 ORA frogskin acropora (x2 are ~1.25", one has x2 3/4" stubs) x3 Cward tricolor acro (from Hollback, 2 are ~1.25", one is <1", but is like a bush with many branches budding out) x1 several branch montipora setosa frag [in pic w/ frogskin] x1 unknown Acro - dark green skin, green polyps purplish tips - loves light.(~2") [in pic w/ frogskin] mother colony below Some of the mother colonies (some are small) Setosa not pictured Small frag rock w/ 2 Superman Bullseye mushrooms - $30. Could never get them to color up since I went to a low nutrient SPS tank, but looked great in my old nano undo LEDs. Pics are from the lights just turning on so they havent fully inflated. wil update later. Ultra Neon Rhodactis Mushroom $15 - Always very very neon green. Slow grower for me. Never split in the 3 years I have had it. pics are from the lights just turning on so they havent fully inflated. wil update later. Tricolor acan enchinata - $35 bigger than a frag, not quite colony size, but it has completely encrusted the rock, to where no rock is showing. I kinda don't want to get rid of this Setosa mini colony, but I could use the room and I have another mini colony in my tank so I would let it go for $50. If anyone buys 3 or more frags, or more than $50, I will throw this in for free. Its a purple acro that almost died on me during my move last year. I cut out some areas that still looked salvagable, but they are starting to recover. This is a smaller one that I am fine to let go. Looking for cash/venmo as I am saving up for new tank. I am located in Hilliard/Dublin near Tuttle Crossing Mall. (Columbus Area)
  4. I have moved the SPS corals I wanted in my new DT, and am breaking down the smaller tank. There is roughly 15-20 lbs. of live rock with several SPS frags encrusted on them. Full disclosure, there is also some unwanted algae that I just haven't spent enough time removing. My best advice would to only buy this if you have a quarantine aquarium where you can either manage the algae prior to putting in your main display, or frag out the SPS as they grow. SPS noted: Green Monti Cap, Orange Digi, Red Planet, Pink/Green Birdsnest, some other one I forget the name Also, some green star polyps, and green zoas $60 OBO
  5. I have 2 Radion pro g2s for sale that are in excellent condition. They have been cleaned and maintained consistently and run flawlessly. I switched my main tank to a t5/kessil hybrid because I got bored and was saving these for a future project that now I do not think is going to happen. So really just hate seeing them sitting in the boxes not being used. They have boxes and manuals and everything with them and they were recently cleaned and even the power supplies cleaned. There is only one flaw between both units and that is a small hairline crack on the faceplate from me tightening the screw too tight but that does not affect any performance or structure. Looking to get $650 for the pair. Any questions feel free to contact me.
  6. Hey All! Seeing as that I basically can't stop planning out new projects even as I work on others, I've long considered setting up an SPS tank, and so why not start thinking about it! With that, would you all mind sharing what lights you use over your tanks and the success that you've had (or haven't, though I hope this isn't the case)? If you feel like it, would you also mind giving a bit of insight as to why you chose the lights you did?
  7. *List has been updated and items sold have been taken off to clean things up some* My wife and I have been trying to start a family for the past year and unfortunately have not had any luck.
