Jesse
What are your opinions on LED life? The 90 gallon I setup over 2 years ago is still getting hair algae, and other stuff coming out of the rocks. It really reminds me of a sump. My LED’s are approximately 6-7 years old and they’re the only thing that hasn’t changed on this system. I’ve tried chemicals, lights out, pretty much everything. is it possible the LED’s are out of life causing them to put the wrong spectrum out? Joe
Following. I have never heard of anyone throwing out leds due to being to old though.
Muttley000
Seems like light and color shift are the possible two factors. Here is some info I found googling http://budgetlightforum.com/node/10296
euphylin me
i guess there is a chance that color shift could be a problem. I dont know if you run alot of whites but i literally run zero whites on every tank that i have had. I have never had a problem with hair algae (this tank gets some bc it receives direct sunlight)
Biecacka
Life on leds....I don’t know much about burn out etc. but I will say this, I bought a used pair of Orpheks in June of 2019 that had new boards put in them on 1/05/18(he boards are stamped) and I sent them out in November to have diodes replaced that had burnt out and some appeared to be dim. I don’t think they last 10 years or so like people were saying when hey first started becoming mainstream if that is worth anything to you.... corey
Dr.Fraggenstien
My black boxes are about 5 years old. No issues yet.
Biecacka
Yeah I know plenty of people who have had no issues with many brands. I’m just saying it’s not always that way. I’m glad you have had great luck! corey
