Diy leds

I build these light almost 2 years ago. I ran them until I broke the controller while switching tanks. I love these lights and will incorporate them into my 150 whenever I get time. I bought a converter to control pwm signal through apex. Less options via apex, but still enough. I am copy and pasting from the original build.

Just over 10%.

I don't really have them completely dialed in to the color I want, but I'm getting close. The light looks a lot whiter in person.

Each fixture consists of

1-BXRA-40E0950-B-03(neutral white)

4-Philips Luxeon M ROYAL BLUE 12 Watt LEDs

4-CREE XP-E2 Blue

1-Philips Luxeon ES Cyan 3 Watt LEDs

1-Philips Luxeon ES Deep Red 3 Watt LEDs

4-Exotic Hyper Violet LED - 430nm-lgb

I am using the stormx controller which allows me to control each color individually.

I can control each channel by 4096 increments which allows for a super smooth sunrise/sunset feature. Right now it takes 3 hours ramp up and 3 hours to ramp back down. I may adjust later.

It also has cloud coverage and thunderstorms. I do not have these on right now. I want to put a screen top on my tank first. Right now I have all the colors across the three heatsink a wired together, but I have all the drivers I need already in place to control the colors individual across the heatsinks to allow for a rolling cloud and thunder.

The controller had a spot to solder on a connection for a temperature probe.

Here are the pics of each individual channel at 100%.

At 50% it's visual as bright as my mh/t5 setup. At 100% it's crazy bright. I can't wait to check with a par meter.

I still have to put the optics on if I choose. I bought narrow ( 54-60degree) with the plan on raising 8-18inches, but that's for a later day.

Looks like you did a great job. How is growth with them?

Growth with them was just as good as the mh t5 fixture it replaced. Growth was a lot better in the 125 then my current 150, but I'm never home anymore to maintain it. My wife feeds my tank and I keep my ato reservoir and dosing containers full. Color on most coral looks good, but no accelerated growth.... but I'm off tomorrow first day in months!! Gonna do a water change and might buy one of those apex feeders. Might even hook the leds back up if I'm feeling motivated(.005% chance of that)

I had my leds on the 150 for almost a day when I moved everything over. They were running with the halides as a supplemental. When I went to rerun the wiring and stuff behind the tank is when I broke the controller. Here is with out the leds and with them as supplemental.

Just halides.
